About your Chef

Alex has over thirty years’ experience in the food industry and is just as passionate about what drew her into the kitchen as a young chef today as she was then.

After leaving school, Alex trained as a Cordon Bleu chef, starting her career at the world famous Ballymaloe cookery school in Cork, Ireland. Set on its own organic farm, she honed her passion for using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Over the years Alex has worked in many different roles, head chef, cookery teacher, an assistant producer for cookery TV shows and a recipe developer for books.

Alex now brings her skill and knowledge to Penninghame Estate, providing stunning catering and cookery lessons for our guests.

Alex style is a modern take on the classical French style ofHaute cuisine. It is a type of cooking that emphasizes fresh and local high-quality foods prepared using classic techniques. Food ingredients are sourced locally to ensure freshness and are cooked using time-honored methods to produce food with big flavours and textures.
